Named after two iconic African-American STEM Professionals: Gloria Anderson and Guion Bluford, our program aims to encourage girls of color as well as other inner-city students to pursue an undergraduate major in STEM, graduate college with a STEM Degree and enter a STEM field as a professional post-college graduation.
In September 2017, DonCARES of Philadelphia will introduce to select schools in North Philadelphia the Anderson-Bluford Scholars Program. Named after Guion Bluford and Gloria Long Anderson who are two STEM Professionals of color, our program offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the life and future career trajectory of high school students in North Philadelphia. Led by STEM Students at Temple University, DonCARES of Philadelphia will recruit STEM students of color, to act as positive role-models and mentors to STEM-interested students at the U School in North Philadelphia. We offer a range of volunteer options to accommodate busy schedules and varying levels of expertise.
